Euronews.net: On Saturday night (1st of August),Tel Aviv’s gay community was shaken up of the news; after a gunman killed two people, a young man and a young woman, in an apparently homophobic attack on a gay support centre. At least ten others were wounded. (Up, Left) An injured man is treated as he is brought into Ichilov hospital following a shooting in a nightclub in Tel Aviv
Israel’s deputy prime minister described it as a massacre. “It’s a shock for every one of us, I think what happened yesterday was a massacre that we could not tolerate or accept. I would like to believe that the police will take all the measures that are needed in order to find who the murderer, who is the terrorist, is and to bring them to trial”
Tel Aviv’s gay community held rallies in the city today in support of the victims and their way of life. Tel Aviv has an active gay scene and the attack has shocked the city. The gunman, who was reportedly wearing a mask, fired randomly at teenagers who had gathered at the support centre.
