But speaking about stereotypes, and in a country like
Jordan, the awareness toward other social minorities, i.e. gays, is on the rise,
yet, under the hush-hush, and one would expect an outspoken person, self-taught
musician whose building to fame to keep his personal opinions when coming to
such matters on the down-low. Rami, is after all a straight guy, who attracts both
sexes. He giggles as I mention it “I know, I’m considered a ‘bear’! I have
gay friends too who put me on a pedestal! But its flattering knowing that I’m
attractive for both sexes, it is” he says “I have defended gay people,
in my adult life only. I was against homosexuality as a teenager, now I’m
neutral." "I guess I don’t see sexuality as a matter to be labeled, so you’re
gay, straight… then what? It’s not a matter to question as it’s out
there.” he emerges unfazed. “I was never bullied, and never a bully. I was
always friends with everybody. Seriously, not being diplomatic nor an idealist
here. I was always the guy who laughs the most”
