If men had periods it wouldn’t be this late! We’re absolutely sorry for the delay of this month’s issue. It has been -and none the less- hectic for everyone including me. With the non stop heart breaking news of Gaza, it has been really hard to do anything really!!!
Many of our writers have mid-term exams which are all over the universe at the time.
Starting here all you up-towners, starting this year with a new make over, a shocking cover and a truthful beauty! Ah yes, truth always comes out, it’s one of the fundamental rules of time and when it comes out it can set you free, or end everything you worked and fought so hard for, yet this just in: spotted! The outer world is clashing over the outer perfection and the inner imperfection!
This issue is unusual, so special which I in person regret the delay of its contents and its updates. However we’ve featured two powerful stories, one is a My.Kali original, which is the main theme of this month issue and cover “the ugly one!” written by MJ.
I would like to thank this issue’s face, Beebo. Going there, showing the world his beautiful set of braises, giving this teenage face something to be proud of showing. He’s an example of a very unique irregular school beauty, which reminds me, of a seventeen magazine cover I had when I was in school, which featured this girl Jennifer Steele with her braises on the cover as well (right>), which is something you don’t usually see on magazine covers. That’s the point of our whole issue! How the media sets theses irreplaceable yet so-oh-changeable standards on what beauty is, and how the gay community universally and locally is focusing on the outer look more than the inner owned one! So Ugly Betty was our theme for this issue. Plus what gay guy doesn’t watch or obsess over that show!? So it was the perfect choice obviously.
However this issue will be updated through this month January and next month as well to make up for the delay. This will give us for the first time ever, a double issue of My.Kali.mag’s contents.
Starting a 2009, a new year is always accompanied by a resolution usually. So make sure to check out our My.Kali special resolution that might get you thinking of this year’s do-overs and rethinking of things that might lead to a happier, “gayer” year! Hopefully it will be another big positive change. As always wish you all the best, take care and see next month.

Behind the scenes...
Behind the scenes was a lot of fun-craze act going on. The shoot was very simple, very casual. We had forgotten to get glasses for the shoot so we’ll copy the ugly Betty look, two of our assistants walked around hoping to find glasses shops open on a Friday night! However, they came with Doritos chips, which helped us to create the Mexican Betty style in one shot. However, not finding glasses forced our creator to come up with the idea of the finger-glasses shape have face trick to do an original out look and a touch of creativity, which created the cover image.
It was all about the Betty...
While the shoot was on, few episodes of Ugly Betty were playing on the back ground to get us all in the mood, and to help get us a very similar picks to the scene, that helped to create a fun and hilarious moments. Bebo was all tensed-up to do his first photo shoot ever, so the playing Ugly Betty in the back, plus our Make-up artist delightful personality helped him to cope with the air, the lights and the flashes which lead to stress free, natural going pictures.
