My Letter,
Who could’ve thought, that a magazine would come up with an “80’s issue”! How weird that issue would be? But we made it to be as unusual as it is, fun and creative. If you haven’t noticed, our designer had used his powers to bring the cover 20 years earlier, as our photographer snapped shot for this month’s cover look, embodying the 80s Amazonian snap, next thing you know you’re getting scratched by just looking at the cover! This isn’t just the best issue yet, this is thee most creative thing we ever done. Our articles this month are way bold to read, way new and way unusual. Make sure to read Ann’s article on gay genes, M.J.’s and his coverage on the gossip scene in Amman, Quillen’s on finding love and break up. We have been here quiet a time now, and we couldn't have got here without all the people who supported this magazine, who writes for, model for and read from. This time I want to thank every one and especially our new comer and writer Max J. so far she had proved herself with her amazing work, read her vol.1 coverage on coming out. Another thing, all the rumors about Adonis "My.Kali.mag's" cover designer leaving the team, are faulse, Adonis had never left the house and is always part of the team, we couldn't be more prouder -(as told by the crew in Amman)- On the behalf of me and our crew, I wish you all a happy Ramadan. Take care and see you next month.
Kali
Our Cover Inspiration:
Our cover designer was inspired by covers from the 80s, and no popular magazine other than Vogue embodied the model-close shot up-look, like they did. The color picks, the clash, the pose and the angle we could’ve done it without an inspiration right from the heart of the 80s. Those covers are few of our picks, check out our cover between them, it fits in that category don’t you think?!
Cover Look:

During the photo sessions
The photo shoot was held in mid August, for half a week, we couldn’t finish all the ideas we had in one session, and with our cover designer “Aresn” in town, attending the photo shoot to get his ideas all projected in the right way, and giving the 80s look that Khalid embodies! Timing for the session was something we had to work with, were Khalid ran from meetings with magazines to photo sessions with agencies and coming right after words to our photo shoot. Our inspiration was Brooke Shields (see the cover of Vogue right >>). Why? Brooke Shields was known to be the face of the 80s in the 1980’s, with her thick brows, her flashy looks and long hair. Regarding her young age, she was theee girl on every magazine cover. So we’ve taken in consideration her looks, which were pretty much embodied on Khalid’s, were they both have similar wildness and rebellious vibes, not to forget the mature-ness of their faces regarding their young age. The cover needed a hawk’s eyes, carelessness, and an untamed black cat spirit, and that’s what Khalid gave the camera, he gave the attitude needed. During the photo shoot 80s music was played constantly, from Billy Idol to Laura Branigan, and between sessions the photographer gossiped with the make-up artist “Nour” while Madonna was playing in the back. It was also fun having the Cover designer Aresn around before he leaves to Cyprus, we’d like to give him a lovely nudge for attending the original house where photos are taken of our models and get sent to him in Cyprus to design our covers. Aresn and Khalid got along while in fact they’re friends from the first beginning, teaming to make one hell of a retro sleek look - by Jameel
