Masterbation Won't Hurt Your

Growth!

By: Ann C.

Ever heard that song “She Bop” performed by Cyndi Lauper? And oh how that song was completely out- bolded every taboo subject ever was! She sang about masturbation and how every body does it.  How masturbation won’t stunt your growth, it won’t make you go blind, and your hand won’t fall off.  Despite threats made by our grandmothers and religious leaders, masturbation is actually good for your health!  Benefits from masturbation include stress relief, relief from insomnia, and pain relief.  Masturbation is also a safe and healthy way to get to know your body.

Studies have indicated that masturbation induced orgasms have a relaxing effect on the body and mind. “Particularly when used with sexual fantasy, masturbation can be a great escape, a way to let off some steam, and while masturbation alone might not be enough to deal with all the stress in your life, it’s a healthy, free, and non-pharmaceutical tool right at your fingertips” (Silverberg, Cory).  While masturbation can not solve the cause of your stress, it can’t give you a temporary and pleasurable escape!

Other studies have indicated that masturbation can relieve symptoms of insomnia.  In a 2000 study of U.S. women, 32% said that in the past three months they masturbated as a way to fall asleep” (Silverberg, Cory).  Having an orgasm as a result of masturbation can help lull you into a natural sleep, without the use of habit forming sleep aids.

Sexual arousal and orgasms have also been shown to reduce pain thresholds.  Chronic pain, and temporary pain caused by things like headaches and menstrual cramps, is reduced in some people after having an orgasm.  The exact medical cause of this is not clear (Silverberg, Cory).

Finally, masturbation is a great, safe, and healthy way to explore you body.  Through masturbation you can discover what turns you on, without feeling embarrassed or self conscious. “Often when we’re having sex with a partner we might be too self-conscious, shy, or otherwise distracted to pay close attention to what’s happening in our own body” (Silverberg, Cory).  Masturbation is a great time to play out fantasies, and focus on yourself and your body.

Despite negative taboos that are attached to masturbation, studies have indicated that masturbating to the point of orgasm actually has many positive benefits.  Using masturbation as a way to become more familiar with your body, reduce pain, sleeplessness and stress is both healthy and safe.  Read on for a “how-to”!

How-to get

stared!

1-Relax and get yourself in the mood.  Give yourself some privacy where you know you won’t be disturbed.  Lock the door, or whatever you feel is necessary in order to feel relaxed and comfortable.
2-Create a fantasy.  This can be something you make up, or a previous sexual encounter that was particularly pleasurable.  This is your time, so focus on whatever turns you on.  You can also use magazines, erotic stories or movies if this increases your level of sexual arousal.
3-Explore your body.  One of the benefits of masturbation is getting to know your body, and what turns you on.  Touch your body all over, breeze your hand up your inner thigh, and explore all part of your vagina, labia, and clitoris.  Experiment with different motions and pressure until your find what is most pleasurable.  Some women reach orgasm through clitoral stimulation while others climax from vaginal penetration.
4-Let you body tell you what to do.  Let your body guide you.  If you feel you are about to climax, slow down or take a brief pause to let the sexual tension build up.  Breathe deeply to enhance the pleasure.  Your body will tell you what to do next.
5-The Orgasm.  As you feel your body start to climax, keep applying light pressure, this will allow you to enjoy the aftershocks of the orgasm.  If the feeling is painful, stop applying pressure.  Some women will not orgasm at first, but don’t give up!  You will get the hang of it as you learn more about your body and what excites you sexually.

The music scene on masturbation!

Never thought about it, didn't you? Songs on masturbation! Well, it all goes back to 1984 when Cyndi Lauper had her hit (She bop) aired, it was one of the taboo subjects not to be discussed only but even sing about, it had a lot of hidden meanings yet forward to understand it's about the secret habit which is masturbation. The song is a hit and up beat, it was another dancing pop song for the youngsers who didn't understand the hidden meaning, and it was up clear to the adults what the song was talking about. When you get to watch the video of the song (avalible on YouTube), you''ll notice what the conterversy is all about, first showing how the teens and young adults in that time were junk food zombies, and then the master-talk starts and shows.
