The after party was at China White and the club’s manager Darko Kovacevski and his staff made sure everyone was well looked after and were perfectly watered! Everyone who worked at the club, bouncers, security guards and guest list girls included, were polite, professional and pleasant. I found this a refreshing change from the ordinary as most staff I’ve encountered at London nightspots could take a lesson or two on how to be efficient and courteous!
I avoided the Alchemy Indian Fashion Show because of the inefficiency of Blow PR, the public relations company that prided itself on providing specialist PR for the fashion and lifestyle industries. In my opinion, their speciality lay in the way they invite you to an event, then refuse to communicate from that point onwards. Blow PR seems to think blowing people off was the way to get their clients press! How ironic? Instead I spent the day with Anthony BM Rock, photographer extraordinaire and film animator who has worked on both Hollywood and British projects. Armed with his camera and a few changes of clothing, Anthony captured me in his lens using natural light and a light reflector in London’s Covent Garden market. We ended up at Ukai Soho for drinks and chatted to the staff who treated us to their fabulous cocktails. Anthony is very talented, an absolute pleasure to work with and specialises in portraits.
Hosting Socialite Evenings by Emmanuel Ray at Zenna, London’s first Indian cocktail bar in Soho, was a great experience. Fashionistas, entrepreneurs, film folk, media personnel and various other professionals from a variety of businesses attended my party. Fashion designer Natalja Sigalova handled the guest list while my event organiser Ray Clark made sure everything was in order.
The charming Dan Thomson who owned Zenna, treated guests to cocktails and canapés on arrival, and talented young songstress Amy Heasman entertained the audience with her deep husky voice assisted by the handsome DJ SR. Guests also enjoyed on site massage sessions by Sam and Mal Weeraratne, owners of the popular Büty Salon in Hammersmith & Fulham.
Representatives from the Independent Film Trust, the Liberal Democrats, Bloomberg, the Old London Underground Company were also present. The event was sponsored by MM Vekaria & Co Accountants, Büty Salon & Zenna. Partners included Break London Radio, Superstar Magazine, Frost Magazine, The Style Column and Work In Fashion. The event was filmed by Richard Lipman for independent news agencies and was photographed by Karyn Louise at Ruby Photography London.
With various other venues both new and old, offering us their space for Socialite Evenings events, I decided to host my next party in mid May, when the Royal wedding mayhem would be well and truly over. I am being whisked away to the countryside by an admirer during those 4 days and will report back with more details on this possible new romance next time. I hope you readers enjoyed the Easter weekend and are enjoying the sunny weather, while nursing your hangovers!
