My.Kali: Do you think you should keep your relationships private?
MS: Well, with "Teri" I kind have to, because I'm a mother and a wife, and this is my personal treat at midnight. A lot of people think that mothers are only mothers, cooking lunch, cleaning the dishes, doing the laundry driving the kids and that's it. But that's not all of it, I'm human too after all, and for me and my family, I'm not expected to do such things, I' m not thought about that way, so that's why I like to keep it private so it won't interfere with my motherhood. However, every women is in-titled to keep few dirty laundries... I like keeping few of my naughty secrets to myself, I mean who would expect that I was once a Maxim girl, cleaning the floor on all fours wearing a thong!
My.Kali: A lot of people, including me, say that you share the personality of Felicity Huffman; "Lynette" in Desperate Housewives. Do you agree with that?
MS: Oh they'd think that! Although I'm much of an Eddie! [Laughs]. I'm a 24/7 mom, a wife, a sitter, a woman, and a whore in bed! I do get stressed out a bit, well, a lot, but being a mom is what I want to be. I enjoy my versatility, although that totally means something else in the gay world!
You know I did meet Felicity in the Vanity Fair Oscar after party. We sat and talked about it the rumor mill and how they're basing her character off of mine, even voice-wise, and we laugh about it for hours, even though she gets handsy after the 3rd drink! I once told her that I had a woman crush on her personality and how much I liked her role in Trans-America.
My.Kali: Speaking of Trans-America, and the whole concept of gay life. What would you do if Bart or Lisa became gay?
MS: I'm ok with it. I consider myself an open minded person. I teach my children manners, responsibility, balance and the respect of others, and being gay is nothing to be ashamed of, or something that interferes the person's good life he/she leads, and I try to teach that as much as I can to my children, and the good person and his good act won't be labeled under a category whether he's gay or straight, then how would they accept our gay priest? Mmm...
And if one of them is gay, I will support them, and love them and still be their mother, and after all, I'm the one who really wants them to be happy, and be themselves. Many parents won't be happy if their child is gay, not because of the child himself, but because of the cruel world we live in! The last thing I want is for people to judge my children! That's what the big fuss is really about, and I understand that, cause I am a parent after all.
My.Kali: What about your sister Salma, she came out, where do you stand on that?
MS: My sister Salma had always been there for me, regardless being a lousy sitter, still, from she being a sister to being a really good listener... Her being a lesbian didn't change the fact that I love her, nor the fact that she's my sister. I wish my sister all the happiness, I support her, defend her and welcome her and her life into mine, my home and to my family. All we want is for her to be happy. You know last night she and her girlfriend came to my dinner party, and they looked so cute together, they were such a happy couple with all the closeness, I was a little jealous, [laughs]. I nudged Homer a couple of times, hoping he'd notice... instead, he was busy drooling over his steak, just like when being busy with his video games and so with his d....!
My.Kali: Before we finish, I just wanted to ask, are the rumors true? Are you going to be an American Idol judge?
MS: Me? On Idol? And what replace J.Lo? [laughs], although the bitch did steal my nude-sheer style, and dodged few dinner parties. But if I was, I'd be washing Simon's mouth with cheap soap!
